Changing Directions

My husband and I, (okay, mostly ME) started off on this land with little more than a dream of feeding ourselves in 2015 (full time). For several years we had livestock of all sorts from cows who in fact, would jump the fence to eat what was in the garden to goats that levitated over fences to eat WHATEVER they could. Chicks for meat and eggs to sell to the public. Sheep and emus. Planted fruit trees, nut trees, gardens. Some days it was like everything was out to get us. Some days it was just magical. As the years have gone by, we’ve figured out what will and won’t work for us on this land. Goats were great for clearing land. We kept some of our rare breed chickens like the Sanjak, Svart Hone and Hmong. Oh! and Ayam Ketewa (the laughing chicken from India). Expanding this year into keeping more emus. We found a community that loves our value-added products across the state and I found out I can make some awesome hot sauces. I’ll be cleaning up this website over the next few weeks. Hopefully remember to update it more than once a month going forward too! Our facebook farm page is very active please join us over there for daily updates, recipes and other interesting musings and such. Here is to 2026!
